美國國務院（英語：United States Department of State，有時亦用State Department）直屬美國政府管理的外事機構，相當於外交部，其行政負責人為國務卿；美國國務院為美國最龐大的官僚機構之一，位於美國首都華盛頓特區。現在的國務卿是希拉蕊·柯林頓（Hillary Clinton）。
組織單位
- 國務院官銜一般分為：國務卿（Secretary）、副國務卿（Deputy Secretary）、次卿（Under Secretary）、助卿（Assistant Secretary）、副助卿（Deputy Assistant Secretary）。
- 副國務卿—副國務卿為次於國務卿之官員，下轄各有專職的六位次卿與下列職務或單位：

- 確認、承諾及履行局（Bureau of Verification, Compliance, and Implementation）
- 負責民主及全球事務之次卿—全球事務辦公室是由柯林頓辦公室為了能掌握新興外交影響力所建立的，2005年改名為民主暨全球事務辦公室，以增加民主在美國外交政策中的份量：
