விலங்கு


பல்வகை விலங்குகள்

விலங்கு என்பது உலகில் வாழும் உயிரின வகைகளின் ஒரு பிரிவாகும். அரிஸ்டாட்டில் எல்லா உயிரினங்களையும், தாவரங்கள், விலங்குகள் என இரு பெரும் பிரிவுகளாகப் பிரித்தார். லின்னேயசின் முறைப்படி (Linnaeus' system), வெஜிட்டபிலியா (Vegetabilia), அனிமலியா (Animalia) என்னும் இரண்டு திணைகள் ஆகின.

விலங்குகளால் தானாகவே உணவு தயாரிக்க இயலா. இவை தாவரங்களையோ மற்ற விலங்குகளையோ தின்று உயிர் வாழ்கின்றன. பெரும்பாலான விலங்குகள் இடம்பெயரும் ஆற்றல் பெற்று விளங்குகின்றன.

தாவரங்களை மட்டுமே உண்ணும் விலங்குகள் தாவர உண்ணிகள் எனவும் விலங்களை உண்பவை ஊனுண்ணிகள் எனவும் இவை இரண்டையும் உண்பவை அனைத்துண்ணிகள் எனவும் அழைக்கப்படுகின்றன.
