Himachal Pradesh was part of Indian Punjab before 1966 and is considered by some Sikh nationalists as part of the greater area of Khalistan, is now a state in the Republic of India. Shimla is the capital of Himachal Pradesh. Covers an area of 21,629 sq mi (56,019 km²), it is bigger than Bosnia and Herzegovina but smaller than Croatia.
