Bengali is the most eastern Dravidian language from South Asia. It is spoken in both Bangladesh and in the Republic of India. Almost all of the people in Bangladesh speak Bengali, but in India it is only spoken in the state of West Bengal provincial region.
Almost two-hundred million people speak Bengali, which makes it one of the most widely spoken languages in the world.
Many famous books and poems are written in Bengali.
Rabindranath Tagore was a famous poet who won the Nobel Prize in Literature.
