SAGEM Communication


SAGEM Communication is a French company, headquartered in Paris, involved in communication systems and consumer electronics.

Formerly a division of SAGEM (Société d’Applications Générales de l’Electricité et de la Mécanique), Sagem Communication became, in 2005, a subsidiary of SAFRAN, the high-technology international group formed by the merger of SAGEM and Snecma.

Sagem Communication product lines include mobile phones, printing terminals, residential terminals, digital TV, networks, electronic metering and cables.

The company is organized in two Business Groups: Mobile Communication and Broadband Communication.

Mobile Communication

Sagem brand mobile phones with a focus on technological innovations, (cameras, screens, multimedia messaging, modules and modems...). The Mobile Communication Business Group operates a Research & Development center in Cergy, northwest of Paris, France, and a production plant at Fougères, in the Brittany region of France.

Broadband Communication

The Broadband Communication Business Group designs, develops and produces a line of products for the broadband, video and printing markets. The group deploys a Europe-wide network of subsidiaries (National Sales Organizations), distributing Sagem brand products in all major European countries.

The Broadband Communication business was bought out by the Gores Group end of 2007.

Rumors regarding Sagem's closure

On several websites, news appeared, that the French mobile phones manufacturer , will cease production of Sagem branded handsets by the end of this year, continuing on his OEM contracts.
