Dorothée (born 14 July 1953 in Paris, France), the stage name of Frédérique Hoschedé,[1] is a French singer and TV presenter.

Biography

Dorothée started her TV career in the Dorothée et Blablatus show. She had a brief cinema career, playing in L'amour en fuite, François Truffaut's last film in the Antoine Doinel series, and in 1981 in Pile ou face by Robert Enrico.

From 1978 to 1987, she presented the Récré A2 TV show on Antenne 2, then Club Dorothée (TF1) until 1997, when it was replaced by TFOU TV. These programmes were aimed at children, Récré being French for "breaktime". Through these popular TV shows, she gained a significant fan-base among the generation born between the early 1970s and late 1980s.

Her career as a singer for children was also successful, many of her albums achieving gold or platinum status in France.

Dorothée dropped out of the public eyesight for several years after the Club Dorothée's cancellation in 1997. She resurfaced in 2006 when several remixes of her songs from the 1980s and 1990s were released. In December 2008, she resumed her work as a television presenter on channel IDF1.
