Captain January is a 1936 musical film, starring Shirley Temple and Guy Kibbee.
The film is based on the 1891 children's book Captain January by Laura E. Richards.
Plot
Helen 'Star' Mason (Shirley Temple) has been living with Captain January (Guy Kibbee), the lighthouse keeper, since she was an infant. Her parents had perished and Captain January had rescued her. However, a truant officer (Sara Haden) demands that Star be enrolled in boarding school and removed from the care of Captain January.
