British Academy Video Games Awards

In 2003, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) announced that they would be splitting their BAFTA Games Awards from the BAFTA Interactive Entertainment Awards. The Games Awards are given to recognize eminent computer and video games.

The first BAFTA Games Awards were presented on February 25, 2004.

2008

Due to controversy following the 2007 awards, in which some of the nominated titles had not actually been released, the 2008 awards were moved to 2009 in order to avoid clashing with the Golden Joysticks and to give judges more time with the nominated games.^[1] The awards given in 2009 covered games released in the later half of 2007 and the whole of 2008.
