Rojas was born on 16 April 1985 in La Plata, Argentina. He has three older siblings — two brothers and one sister.[1] He attended the Gimnasia La Plata and was the member its rugby team.[1] However he quited his sports career due to his role in Chiquititas. Rojas is a fan of football and a passionate supporter of Club de Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata.[2] He is influent in Spanish and English language.
Rojas dated his Chiquititas and Rebelde Way co–star Camila Bordonaba for three years.[3] The two have remained great friends.[3] He dated model María Del Cerro, but they broke up in 2008 [4][5]
Benjamín Rojas began his professional show business career when he was cast as Yago in Cris Morena's production, Chiquititas, in 1998. His portrait of Yago, a homeless boy who helps María Jimena Piccolo's Jimena out of a jungle and in turn gets helped by Jimena himself when she takes him to the Rincón de Luz orphanage home, gave Rojas much critical acclaim. Rojas spent two years at Chiquititas playing the character of Bautista Arce. During that span, Rojas became a teen idol in Argentina, the rest of Latin America and even Hungary, where his fans kept a fansite dedicated to him. After his participation in that teenager oriented telenovela, Rojas went on to reprise his role as Bautista Arce in the 2001 Chiquititas film Chiquititas: Rincón de Luz.
Rojas broke through in the music world in 2002. He played Pablo Bustamante in the Martín Fierro Award—nominated hit television series Rebelde Way. Along with fellow former Chiquititas actors Camila Bordonaba, Felipe Colombo and Luisana Lopilato he formed a music band, named Erreway, which has many fans across the planet. In 2004, when Rebelde Way finished, he replied his role of Pablo in film version of Rebelde Way, Erreway: 4 Caminos, which was a major Argentine cinema success.
In 2004 Rojas starred in Telefe series Floricienta, also produced by Cris Morena. He starred in the role of Franco Fritzenwalden, alongside Florencia Bertotti and Juan Gil Navarro. The following year he reprised his role of Franco in the theater version of Floricienta. In 2006 Rojas portrayed Cruz Navarro in the series Alma Pirata and in its theater version, alongside Luisana Lopilato, Mariano Martínez and Elsa Pinilla.
Rojas co–stared Alejandro Awada in 2008 film Kluge. The same year he starred as Mowgli in theater play El libro de la selva, alongside Brenda Gandini; starred alongside Pablo Rago in the film La leyenda; and also starred in television series Jake & Blake. In late 2008 Rojas has signed a contract with Argentine Disney Channel and Cris Morena Group for an international television show, similar to High School Musical.[6] He had to turn down the role of Prince in the theater play Cinderella due to this contract.
During the development of Rebelde Way, Rojas and his co-stars — Camila Bordonaba, Felipe Colombo and Luisana Lopilato — have become the members of music group Erreway. They immediately reached worldwide popularity, especially in Latin America, Spain, Europe and Israel. All their studio albums, Señales (2002), Tiempo (2003) and Memoria, reached Platinum certification. In 2007 Luisana Lopilato has officialy left Erreway, which now consists of Bordonaba, Colombo and Rojas.[7] They released Erreway presenta su caja recopilatoria, the greatest hits compilation, in 2007, and are working on their fourth album, Vuelvo.[8]
Rojas has recorded several soundtrack albums for his television series. They include five Chiquititas soundtrack albums, released from 1998 to 2001. He was also one of the lead singers on the Floricienta soundtrack albums; many of these songs were duets with the female protagonist Florencia Bertotti. Rojas also recorded a soundtrack album for Alma Pirata in 2006 and appeared in 2007 soundtrack album of Casi Ángeles.
