‘Abdullāh (عبد الله "servant of God", also spelled Abdullah, Abdulah, Abd Allah, Abdallah, and Abdalla) is a common Arabic name. Humility before God is an essential value of Islam, hence Abdullah is a favorite name among Muslims.
The name was also used historically to call anyone whose name is not known.
The feminine equivalent is أمة الله Amat Allāh (also spelled Amatullah).
